Experience the highs and lows of a body-positive teen striving to come to terms with her parent's gender transition as she searches for an identity all her own in the Pacific northwest.

Brash, bold, and boisterous, Maddie desires nothing more than for others to accept her body "as is," but the weight-shaming she endures is relentless. Complicating her life even further is her trans dad's imminent surgery, which sends her to stay with her estranged biological father, who runs a militia-style compound that protects his Colombian wife and her sons from deportation.

While there, Maddie develops a connection with her extended family that is short-lived as an unexpected outcome of the operation sends her dad into a tailspin that forces her to remain in Oregon against her will. Going AWOL from her new middle school, Maddie undergoes an agonizing ordeal that tests her inner resources for survival.

Emerging from her experience depleted but not defeated, she takes on new challenges by finding mountains to climb, both symbolic and actual, that she hopes will strengthen her bond with the one person she understands least but loves most.
